But a brilliant book nonetheless, despite the audaciousness of the title (though I must admit that Dennett concedes that his "explanation" is far from complete and that cognitive theory is really still in its infancy--or at least it was when this book /5.

Consciousness Explained, as well breaking new ground towards an explanation of consciousness, is also a very good introduction to the philosophy of mind.

It is a book that will make you think about your everyday experience of the world and the nature of self and identity. Consciousness Explained is a hard, but very rewarding, book. I first read it five years ago, and thought I mostly got it, but on reflection, I realise now I probably didn't.

After recently getting through Dennett's equally fascinating (and hard) "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" I read it again. It's properly sinking in Consciousness explained book, and I think I mostly have it.5/5(5).
